An Evening with Jon Meacham

Missouri Theatre

Jon Meacham, author of Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power, will begin the week by speaking about Jefferson’s influence on the history of higher education. Meacham is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author; his other books include American Lion, Franklin and Winston and American Gospel. He is a contributing editor to Time magazine, a former editor of Newsweek and has written for The New York Times and The Washington Post, among other publications. He is a regular contributor on Meet the Press, Morning Joe and Charlie Rose. A book signing will immediately follow the program. Doors open at 6 p.m., and books will be available for purchase.

Processional Check–in

Individuals who have been invited and plan to participate in the inauguration processional will meet at the Reynolds Alumni Center Great Room at 1:30 p.m. Delegates will be required to wear regalia, which will be provided by participants. Delegates will begin lining up with assistance at 2:30 p.m.; the processional will begin at 3 p.m. from the Alumni Center to Missouri Theatre. Refreshments will be provided.

Parking

Parking is available in the Research Commons lot (RP-10), located at the intersection of S. Providence Road & Mick Deaver Memorial Drive.

Shuttle transportation will be provided from RP-10 beginning at 12 p.m. on Sept. 18 for those attending the luncheon in Reynolds Alumni Center (invitation only). Shuttle service will run continuously until 7:30 p.m. The shuttle service will take guests to all three venues holding Inauguration events: Reynolds Alumni Center, Missouri Theatre and Memorial Union.

If you prefer to park in walking distance to Missouri Theatre, parking is available at metered spots along the street.

Delegate Information

All MU faculty are encouraged to attend the ceremony and join the procession in academic regalia.

MU Faculty must register for the processional online. Check-in for the event will be at Reynolds Alumni Center beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 18. Delegates will begin lining up at 2:30 p.m. with the processional exiting at approximately 3:00 p.m.
