Mizzou community, supporters, and friends,

When I glance out at the quiet Quad, it appears that activity has ceased with the semester’s end. But that’s not the case: in buildings all across campus, I know our dedicated staff and faculty are still hard at work. I want to thank our Curators, who recently approved several changes to the Collected Rules and Regulations — including a new shared leave program, expanded tuition assistance benefits, and reduced operations between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. I hope these changes help all our employees know that they are valued and appreciated.

Faculty and staff members, if you’ve not already done so, please take a look at our student success webpage. There, you will find an easy way to share your innovative ideas for helping Mizzou students become career ready. You can also provide feedback on some of the proposed initiatives to enhance student success. And consider sharing your #MizzouMade story.

Tonya MuellerSo many of our employees demonstrate a deep commitment to MU, and IT Expert Tonya Mueller is no exception. Tonya earned her bachelor’s degree here in 1994 and never left. While working on her master’s degree in agronomy, she began providing part-time technical support for the Division of Plant Sciences. Her supervisor recognized her skills and dedication and hired her for a full-time position, which she has cheerfully filled ever since. Her advice to new and current students: get involved in campus groups and activities, and see where it will take you.

Look for my next update after January 1. And happy holidays to you all!

Until next time,
