Mizzou community, supporters, and friends,

Homecoming weekend was an amazing experience. Not only did we win on the football field, but our generous students donated 4,000 units of blood and collected 30,000 pounds of food for the Food Bank of Central Missouri, while the MU/KU Showdown for Relief raised an impressive $1.75 million for hurricane relief. You might consider watching some brief videos of MU student athletes from affected areas (Dariana Hollingsworth, Andrea Fuentes, and J’mon Moore) talking about what this cooperative effort meant to them.

Homecoming is one of our strongest traditions and dates back to 1911 when Missouri head coach Chester Brewer invited alumni to “Come Back Home” for a showdown that occurred between the Tigers and the Jayhawks. This not only established MU as the first school to propose an annual reunion on the day of an important football game, but also demonstrates Mizzou’s rich history of innovation that still exists today. My wife, Melinda and I enjoyed our first MU homecoming and the chance it gave us to spend time with so many alumni and students — including the 2017 Homecoming Queen Tori Schafer and King Sean Earl who are pictured here.

This week, instead of sharing a #MizzouMade story, we thought you might enjoy sharing this Mizzou video that aired during the Showdown. M-I-Z!
